2022 Judges

John Geary is the Chief Marketing Officer for Nations Roof, one of the largest roofing contractors in the country, providing commercial roofing services to all 50 states. John has worked in various sales and marketing roles for leading contractors, distributors and manufacturers in his 40 years in the industry. He has served on the board of directors for PIMA, ERA, ARMA, SPRI and has been active in NRCA committees and as a member of the Roofing Alliance. John is an enthusiastic advocate for continuous improvement in roofing and has been a speaker at local, regional and national chapters of AIA, RCI and NRCA. He has also contributed articles to Roofing Contractor magazine.

Helene Hardy-Pierce is Vice President of Building Science & Systems, Regulations, & Industry Support for GAF. Helene has spent over 40 years in the roofing industry and has been very active in many of the industry’s organizations. She has received recognition for her contributions to the roofing industry including the J.A. Piper Award from the NRCA and the William C. Cullen Award from ASTM in 2019. Helene is also a Fellow of ASTM and the Roof Consultants Institute.

Among the many groups in which she has been active include ARMA; ASTM International; CSI; NRCA; the RCI Foundation; SPRI; RCMA; PIMA; and the CRRC. Helene has also authored and presented numerous papers for the roofing industry and is a frequent contributor to industry publications.

Scott Kawulok is a Vice President at Frederick, Colo. -based B & M Roofing, a provider of roofing and sheet metal services, where he sells, manages and oversees commercial roofing and reroofing projects throughout Colorado and its surrounding states. As a third generation roofing contractor, Scott grew up in and around the roofing business. His father and grandfather were both active within the industry as business owners and leaders. Scott is currently serving a third term on NRCA’s Board of Directors. He has previously: served on the Roofing Alliance Board of Trustees; NRCA’s Executive Committee; graduated NRCA's Future Executives Institute (FEI) in 2009; served as the president of the National Roofing Legal Resource Center in 2013-14; worked on multiple NRCA educational and technical committees including Manual Update, FEI, NRLRC, and others. B & M Roofing is a founding member of the Roofing Alliance, a founding member of RoofConnect; and is active within the Colorado Roofing Association (CRA), and within the Associated General Contractors (AGC), and several other industry related associations. Scott has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, and a master's degree in English literature from the University of Richmond, Va.

David Martiny is the Director of Product Management for Firestone Building Products, a leading manufacturer of low-slope roofing solutions. David has worked in the global roofing industry for more than 15 years, holding roles of increasing responsibility and management. He started as a Firestone Regional Business Manager in Asia before expanding into leadership roles in Firestone’s global Marketing team. David now leads Firestone’s Product Management organization. He also serves as a board member of ERA. David is especially interested in higher performance roofing systems as well as developing more sustainable products and business practices. David is based in Nashville at Firestone’s corporate headquarters.

J. Dudley Miles currently serves as Chairman of the Board of J.D. Miles & Sons, Inc. and Miles Roofing, Inc. While Dudley grew up in the roofing business, working summers and holidays, he first pursued a teaching and coaching career for six years at Crestwood and then Deep Creek High School after graduating with a pre-med degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1966. Dudley has served as President of Chesapeake Better Business Club, the Chesapeake Rotary Club, the Tidewater Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute, and the Virginia Association of Roofing Contractors (now called Virginia Association of Roofing Professionals – VARP). He is Past President of the National Roofing Contractors Association. Over the past 30 years Dudley has presented papers and discussed current technology at over 100 roofing conferences and seminars in the United States and Abroad. He is past Chairman of the Board of Regents for the Roofing Industry Educational Institute. Dudley was bestowed with the J.A. Piper Award – the roofing industry’s highest honor in 1997. Virginia Association of Roofing Professionals inducted him in their hall of Fame in 2004. Dudley is currently a Stephen Minister and travels annually with his church on international mission trips.

Bob Pringle is the Vice President of Evans Roofing Company, Inc. located in Elmira, N.Y. Evans Roofing Company, Inc. is nationally recognized as a full envelope contractor licensed and registered in 46 states.

Bob is an Industrial Engineer graduate from University of Miami. Bob proudly participates on several boards including NSA, ASSP, CIRCA and the BIE. Bob is a member of the Roofing Alliance, National Roofing Contractors Association, IIBEC, GBC, VPPPA and LEED. With several nationally recognized board certifications, Bob’s responsibilities include managing Sales and Marketing and overseeing Environmental Health and Safety for Evans Roofing Company, Inc. Bob is currently serving as President for the National Slate Association.

Bob and his wife Pam live in Apalachin, N.Y. with their only daughter Lauren who is attending the Geisinger School of Medicine in Sayre, Pa.

John Yuko is the President of GSM Roofing, one of the largest and most respected commercial and specialty roofing contractors in Pennsylvania. After 30 years as an executive in the manufacturing industry, John has joined forces with GSM to continue their tradition of quality, safety and service, which was founded in 1946. John has a BS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University, he also holds a master’s degree in organization management. He’s currently active in the NRCA, NRLRC and sits of the Roofing Alliance Finance and Financial Development Committee. He’s also on the Curriculum Advisory Committee for Thaddeus Stevens College in Lancaster, Pa. John and his wife Bernadette live in Lititz, Pa. They have three children: Jonathan, Zachary and Antonia.
